St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School and Foundation Stage form a voluntary aided school in the Diocese of Leeds maintained by Leeds Authority serving a large geographical area.
At St. Joseph’s we foster the children’s spiritual, personal and intellectual development through a carefully planned, personalised and broad based curriculum. We nurture active, resilient, life-long learners who have high aspirations for themselves, their community and all of God’s world. We aim to provide an environment where every child is valued regardless of race, religion, gender or disability. We strive to provide pupils with the opportunity for personal development so that they may fulfil their potential and become valued members of the community. We regard all children as being equal and provide appropriate opportunities including Special Educational Needs & Disabilities and Gifted & Talented support. As a Catholic school we are concerned with leading the children to a deep, living and active personal faith. We aim to support the work of deepening the children’s moral growth and development of conscience and seek to ensure that our pupils know they are a child of God.
Preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation takes place in Year Three. Preparation for the Sacrament of The Eucharist takes place in Year four and the Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation will soon start in Year Five and the children will receive the Sacrament in Year Six. The preparation currently takes place in school for our Year Three and Four classes but will soon move to being delivered outside of school by Catechists. We continue to work very closely with parents and the parish during the preparation of receiving these Sacraments.
